Design Theory?

I am begining to write a theory of design. Now I know this sounds pretentious as hell, but really, in my humble opinion, anyone who does design, after a set amount of time, should create their own theory of/philosophy behind their design.

Why do I design?

I ask myself. What is the point of creation? Do I create to improve the web at large? Do I create to keep the wolves at bay? Do I create to simply avoid the fact that I really need to stop sitting in front of this computer and go outside and enjoy the beautiful summer weather? Could I get a laptop and do both at the same time ?

So whatÃŒs the answer? The good news is there are no right answers. I just haven’t found mine yet.
