Remaindered Links for 17 Feb 2006

Normally, I post leftover links for the week on Friday, but this week I have an abundance of stuff to share with the class.

Translation of Macrovision Reply to Steve jobs | Daring Fireball has put out a great translation of Macrovision’s Response to Steve Jobs’ open letter to the entertainment industry. For those of you who are not aware, Macrovision is the company responsible for most of the analog rights management in the VCR world and has been one of the leaders in DRM. Jon at DF nails them on the head.

Squirrels Photographing Photographers Photographing Squirrels | Not as twisted as it sounds, but oh so cute.

Guttenberg Tech Support | How was it when people first started using the book? Modern IT would love it.

Season 3 Part I of Entourage on DVD | You need this. Really you do. And while you’re at it, pick up the season 1 and 2 box set

Freelancing lessons learned | Some great insight by Cameron Moll about life as a freelancer (also applies to an independent or small business owner as well).

I’m off to the recording studio next week. But we have wi-fi. So all is well with the computer addicted author writing this post.

  1. Patricia says:

I haven't gotten an ofiaifcl offer as yet, but I do believe it's forthcoming.I've already had an offer from another company that does more of the same stuff I'm doing now which really defeats the purpose of this job search I've been on.I agree the patent process is FAR from perfect. . . but at least my days will not be spent contributing to the military industrial complex. From what I understand of being a Patent Examiner, I would specialize in one particular art, I believe I'm going to be groomed to assess electrical connectors. As yet, I don't know how much co-mingling would occur across the various arts whereby I could gain some insight into the contradictions you've been bringing to our attention. But I will keep you posted, provided I'm not having to wade through a barrage of hatred to get at your message.CONGRATULATIONS on the return of your bike!!! She's gorgeous! Enjoy and stay safe.Oh and as a sidenote: The NO Bush stamp is in use in Minnesota, Virginia, California, Arizona, and Florida and getting ALOT of positive responses.
